updated at random, always honest
From the beginning...
my blog is oldest to newest,
cuz my shit is timeless,
you're lost in a haze,
cuz they never rewind us,
can never recognize
all the shit we've lost,
if we never see the past,
we can't count the cost.
How it all began...
I've had some incredible experiences, and lived a crazy life. I've been told many times I should write a book! But, to be honest with you dude... I don't think most people want to hear what I have to say. They want the glitz and glamour, the wild adventures, the surface-level experiences, as if they're watching a movie. Safely seated at home, or in the movie theater, without any chance of being injured or exposed.
But the reality of the situation is much darker. We are all in this movie together. We are all guilty, to some extent, for the corruption and destruction of the world we live in. And if someone truly wants to understand the depth of my adventures, the beauty, the magic, the trauma, the lessons learned, and the people lost along the way, they'll soon find this "movie" calling them out and drawing them in, exposing us all as the scared children we are hiding behind the safety of comfortable illusions while destroying everything around us in an effort to escape that same trauma ourselves. And one of the most bewildering lessons of all: Once you see it all for what it is, it can't be unseen. So buckle up, buttercup! Cuz it's a long way down.
The Age of Computers
I was probably about 6yrs old when we got our first computer. We didn't even have the Internet for the first couple years. We had floppy disks. We had games like minesweeper, and number munchers. When we first saw a chess game that worked on the computer me and my family were super impressed! I could barely remember all the rules to chess, but this computer could actually play us! And win! (depending on which difficulty setting you chose; easy, medium, or hard. It was some of the first "artificial intelligence" I had ever experienced.
At the same time, our parents were still reading us bedtime stories to help us fall asleep, or just reading us books during the day so that we might learn something. One of those books was the story of John Henry. A true story about one of the fastest and strongest railroad builders in the country. He could drive stakes faster than anyone, but someone had invented a steam-powered stake-driver they claimed could drive stakes faster than any human. Railroad workers were worried about their jobs, and the strongest among them challenged the steam-powered stake-driver to a race. It was quite a profound and tragic story to learn about so young. John Henry just barely managed to beat the machine... but then he had a heart attack and died from overheating.
The Dawn of The Internet
I was probably about 8yrs old when I first "logged on". I had no idea what I was getting myself into. None of us did.
In those days, the Internet barely even had images.
